Rhinoplasty

The Importance of Facial Analysis in Aesthetics

Every individual has a distinct nose. Because of this, the ideal nose is the one that best fits the individual’s face and is one which is proportional to the other parts of the face. Rhinoplasty surgery, which is planned personally for each individual, should ideally be done in a natural but aesthetic form while also correcting nasal defects, creating a nose that is compatible with the unity of the face.

Today, in Rhinoplasty Operations, not only correcting the undesired curvatures or deformations in the nose, but also creating a nose suitable for the facial features of the individual is a goal to be achieved. For this reason, the most important step in rhinoplasty is the evaluation of the nose and the planning stage of the corrections to be made in the surgery together with the patient. In this planning stage, the proportional harmony of the nose related to the face, the structure of the nose and the character of its skin are discussed. In terms of functionality; septum deviation, concha size, and the status of the nasal valve are evaluated.

The facial ratios of all patients are different, and a nose shape of another person that seems desirable may not be liked on another person’s face. While planning an aesthetic surgery on the face, the shape of the face, the proportions of it, and even the quality of the skin and its character should be analyzed sufficiently before the surgery and the newly planned nose shape should be designed according to these analyses. A long and pointed nose on a round, small face may not look good as it will disrupt the integrity. On the other hand, a short nose on a long face can look equally undesirable.

Making a digital design of the nose with the help of modern technology allows a better analysis to be created. The image of the nose is transferred to the computer with the help of digital cameras and changes are made on these photos with image altering technologies, and an estimated appearance of the nose that will occur after the surgery can be obtained.

The increase in self-confidence of the individual after an aesthetic operation in which the goal is achieved and a successful result is obtained, affects the perspective of the individual towards social and business life in a positive way.

Primary Rhinoplasty

It can be said that aesthetic reasons are the most important factor in patients choosing rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty operation is necessary for individuals who are not satisfied with the shape of their nose due to congenital or acquired trauma. However, it may not always be possible to correct the undesired look of the nose by surgeries since each patient's nose tissue responds differently to surgeries. In particular, achieving a perfect symmetrical view of the nose is an extremely difficult and labor-intensive process.

Firstly, you can have the chance of changing your physical appearance with Primary Rhinoplasty. This way, you can become a much more confident person. However, before deciding to have the surgery, you should set your expectations about the operation realistically. You should also share exactly what you expect from the operation with your doctor. The most suitable candidates for primary rhinoplasty will be those who aim to improve the appearance of their nose rather than achieving a perfect result. In addition, there are multiple factors that help to determine the success of primary rhinoplasty. First of all, choosing the surgeon is an important step. A surgeon with necessary knowledge and skills in this operation and a one with a high level of experience should be preferred. Surgeons who do their professions exceptionally usually ask for higher prices. In these situations, patients should consider the achievability of success of the operation rather than the costs.

One other factor that determines the efficiency of primary rhinoplasty is the characteristics of the patient. The general health condition of the patient, especially the age, the structure of their nose, the level of deformity in the nose, tissues and some factors related to the patient are also elements that determine the success of the rhinoplasty operation. It must be said that the operation is not as painful and risky as it is thought. However, the patient is still given sedatives. There are no chances for risky situations to occur during the operation performed under general anesthesia. During the operation, the skin of the nose is separated from the cartilage and bone tissue in the lower part. Doing this, it can be shaped into the targeted form.

In primary rhinoplasty, the shape to be achieved is determined according to the patient's nose structure and the surgeon's foresight. In these operations, either performed with open or closed methods, it is extremely important which technique the surgeon deems appropriate for the patient. The tissue pieces that are deemed excess in the nose are removed using highly sensitive pullers. The removed tissues can be used to correct a deficiency in a different region of the nose during the operation. Finally, we should talk about the age at which primary rhinoplasty should be performed. This operation can be performed to every individual over the age of 17-18. Performing the operation earlier than these ages is risky. First of all, the completion of the nose development should be awaited before any surgical attempt. In addition, it should be considered that decisions made by individuals under the age of 18 may be wrong or susceptible to change, since they have not reached adulthood yet. It would only be correct for patients who have clarified their expectations from their physical appearances to apply for this operation.

 Revision Rhinoplasty

Revision Rhinoplasty Operation is the re-correction of the nose in terms of aesthetics and function by re-operating the patients who have undergone an operation that can be considered unsuccessful aesthetically or functionally. Revision rhinoplasty can be performed on patients whose problems didn’t resolve despite having rhinoplasty before or who think that their problems still continue after their operation. At least 6 months to a year should be waited before the revision operation. The recovery process of revision surgeries may take longer than the first operations. Since the tissues will be more adherent, caused by the first operation, the surgical applications will be more difficult.
